The Axis to Its Final Resting Place (Ali Mansour)

Yesterday, a political chapter in Lebanese history that had accompanied us for more than thirty years was closed. Yesterday, the Shiites of the “Party” bid farewell to the former Secretary-General, Sayyed Nasrallah—the beating heart of the Resistance Axis and the most influential figure in making fateful decisions that changed the face of the region and turned Lebanon upside down.
The backbone of this axis was broken when Israeli aircraft targeted the leader of the “Party,” Nasrallah, causing Iran’s Axis to collapse at an unimaginable speed.
Sayyed was killed, and within days, the butcher of Damascus fell. The Houthi drones disappeared overnight, the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq lost their momentum, and the Gaza war came to an end.
Yesterday, the followers of Sayyed Nasrallah and Sayyed Safi Al-Din marched in an unprecedented and unrepeatable spectacle for this community. The road was paved with tears, flowers, and wailing, leading to the final stop on the airport road, where the “Party” masses bid farewell to the Axis, laying it to its final rest. Between the beginning and the end, the new Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, made his appearance, announcing the state’s assumption of full authority and negotiations with major powers to pressure Israel into withdrawing from the five disputed points in the south.
Qassem’s speech was clear, outlining the next phase in Lebanon: decisions now belong solely to the state. The Party, which agreed to hand over its weapons, withdraw beyond the Litani River, comply with all Israeli conditions, and remain silent about Israeli violations for the past three months, is now—despite all the chaos in the streets and at the airport—militarily broken and defeated.
Yesterday, the “Party” took steps to bury its military, political, and bloody project in Lebanon. Today marks a new chapter in Lebanese history, one that will not be easy. The state alone now holds the power to put an end to Israeli violations and force Israel to withdraw from our land.
Today, the responsibility falls on His Excellency the President—both internationally and in the Arab world—to set Lebanon on the right track after being isolated from international and Arab forums for decades.
This week, His Excellency will visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and we have high hopes for this visit. Political support is essential, but supporting the Lebanese army is the most crucial factor.
Today marks a new beginning after we accompanied the Axis to its final resting place. We are hopeful for a positive phase that signals the return of Arab relations with Lebanon and international support.
Today is a day for the state, not the mini-state; a day for the Lebanese army, not militias and uncontrolled weapons. It is a day for the rule of law, enforced with an iron fist, to break free from the jungle this Axis forced us to live in!
