Adwan : We may withdraw confidence from Minister Salameh
The head of the Administrative and Justice Committee, MP George Adwan, addressed the government and the Lebanese people: “We reiterate once again what we have said before, that we are wasting our time if we think that any reform can happen unless the sovereignty of the state is imposed over all its territories, and the weapon is confined to the state, along with the decision of war and peace.”
He also added in a press conference from the Parliament: “We heard Minister Ghassan Salameh talking about the issue of weapons outside the state being linked to the issue of reconstruction. We say to Prime Minister Nawaf Salam that what is required of him today is to take quick action against Minister Salameh because he is violating the ministerial statement and international resolutions, and if this is not done, we, as the Strong Republic bloc, may withdraw confidence from him.”
Regarding reforms, Adwan emphasized: “The priorities are, first, to work on the financial balance law, identifying the gaps and responsibilities between the state, the Central Bank of Lebanon, and the banks. We will specify how the commitments of each party will be made within a time frame and what guarantees will ensure its implementation.”
Adwan stressed that: “We have asked the government to include a provision related to the collection of weapons and the takeover of security and military centers in the agenda. The government committed to this decision in its ministerial statement, and we granted confidence based on this statement.”
On appointments, he noted: “Any appointment, especially in the Financial Public Prosecution, that does not respect competence, integrity, and independence will face opposition from us.”
Regarding deposits: “Any project that does not prioritize the return of deposits is an evasion of the constitution, the law, and the depositors, and the Strong Republic bloc will not accept it.”
Adwan said about weapons: “Some want to link the disarmament issue to other matters, and this contradicts Lebanon’s commitments and its government’s. Our only demand is the disarmament of weapons, and our only concern is Lebanon’s interest.”
Adwan concluded: “We must be cautious not to transfer powers that are usually vested in the Governor of the Central Bank to other bodies, as this would lead to the collapse of the monetary and financial system, and we call for cooperation between the government and the Parliament.”
Adwan: Nous pourrions retirer la confiance au ministre Salameh
Le président de la commission de l’administration et de la justice, le député George Adwan , s’est adressé au gouvernement et au peuple libanais : « Nous répétons une fois de plus ce que nous avons dit auparavant, à savoir que nous perdons notre temps si nous pensons qu’une réforme peut avoir lieu à moins que la souveraineté de l’État ne soit imposée sur tout son territoire, et que l’armement soit limité à l’État, ainsi que la décision de la guerre et de la paix. »
Il a ajouté lors d’une conférence de presse depuis le Parlement : « Nous avons entendu le ministre Ghassan Salameh parler du lien entre la question des armes en dehors de l’État et la reconstruction, et nous disons au Premier ministre Nawaf Salam que ce qui lui est demandé aujourd’hui est d’agir rapidement contre le ministre Salameh car il enfreint la déclaration ministérielle et les résolutions internationales, et si cela n’est pas fait, nous, en tant que bloc de la République forte, pourrions retirer notre confiance en lui. »
Concernant les réformes, Adwan a souligné : « Les priorités sont, tout d’abord, de travailler sur la loi de l’équilibre financier, d’identifier les lacunes et les responsabilités entre l’État, la Banque centrale du Liban et les banques. Nous préciserons comment les engagements de chaque partie seront réalisés dans un délai et quelles garanties assureront leur mise en œuvre. »
Adwan a insisté sur le fait que : « Nous avons demandé au gouvernement d’ajouter un point concernant la collecte des armes et la prise en charge des centres de sécurité et militaires à l’agenda. Le gouvernement s’est engagé à cette décision dans sa déclaration ministérielle, et nous lui avons accordé la confiance sur la base de cette déclaration. »
Concernant les nominations, il a souligné : « Toute nomination, en particulier au sein du Parquet financier, qui ne respecte pas la compétence, l’intégrité et l’indépendance fera face à notre opposition. »
À propos des dépôts : « Tout projet qui ne met pas la restitution des dépôts en priorité est une fraude contre la constitution, la loi et les déposants, et le bloc de la République forte ne l’acceptera pas. »
Adwan a déclaré concernant les armes : « Certains veulent lier la question du désarmement à d’autres sujets, et cela contredit les engagements du Liban et de son gouvernement. Notre seule exigence est le désarmement des armes, et notre seule préoccupation est l’intérêt du Liban. »
Adwan a conclu : « Nous devons être vigilants pour ne pas transférer des pouvoirs qui sont habituellement attribués au gouverneur de la Banque centrale à d’autres organes, car cela conduirait à l’effondrement du système monétaire et financier, et nous appelons à la coopération entre le gouvernement et le Parlement. »
