Chahade: Lebanon Can Be a Digital Platform Playing a Leading Role in the Region
The Minister of the Displaced and Minister of State for Technology and Artificial Intelligence, Dr. Kamal Chahade, affirmed that “a project is being prepared to enable the state to fulfill its commitments to all those who have pending transactions with the Ministry of the Displaced as quickly as possible. This project includes the closure of the ministry, with its remaining tasks and responsibilities being transferred to another administrative body within the Lebanese state.”
In an interview with MTV, he explained that “the remaining tasks of the ministry pertain to individuals who were displaced from their villages and towns due to the war from 1975 to 1989.” He pointed out that “those displaced during the recent Israeli war are the responsibility of the state as a whole, which has committed to creating a new mechanism to follow up on their files, provide compensation, and assist in reconstruction.”
Regarding the possibility of Lebanon realizing its dream of becoming an advanced digital platform this year, Chahade stated that “achieving this requires a clear strategy that will lead Lebanon to this goal within five years. We will begin laying the necessary foundations to reach this objective.” He added, “This year, we will prove that Lebanon can be a digital platform playing a leading role in the region. We can also provide part of the services intelligently through the use of artificial intelligence.”
He also emphasized “the importance of Lebanese citizens understanding the significance of this transformation, which can only be achieved through the implementation of a strategy that requires several years to be completed.”

Le ministre des Déplacés et ministre d’État chargé de la Technologie et de l’Intelligence Artificielle, Dr Kamal Chahade, a affirmé qu’« un projet est en cours de préparation afin que l’État puisse honorer ses engagements envers tous ceux qui ont des dossiers en attente au ministère des Déplacés, dans les plus brefs délais. Ce projet prévoit la fermeture du ministère, avec le transfert de ses autres missions et responsabilités à une autre administration de l’État libanais. »
Dans une interview accordée à MTV, il a expliqué que « les missions restantes du ministère concernent des personnes déplacées de leurs villages et villes en raison de la guerre de 1975 à 1989. » Il a précisé que « les personnes déplacées lors de la récente guerre israélienne relèvent de la responsabilité de l’État dans son ensemble, qui s’est engagé à créer un nouveau mécanisme pour suivre leurs dossiers, verser des compensations et aider à la reconstruction. »
Concernant la possibilité que le Liban réalise son rêve de devenir une plateforme numérique avancée cette année, Chahade a déclaré que « pour y parvenir, une stratégie claire est nécessaire, permettant d’atteindre cet objectif en cinq ans. Nous allons commencer à poser les bases nécessaires pour atteindre cet objectif. » Il a ajouté : « Cette année, nous allons prouver que le Liban peut être une plateforme numérique jouant un rôle de leader dans la région. Nous pouvons également fournir une partie des services de manière intelligente grâce à l’utilisation de l’intelligence artificielle. »
Il a également insisté sur « la nécessité pour les Libanais de comprendre l’importance de cette transformation, qui ne pourra être réalisée qu’avec la mise en œuvre d’une stratégie nécessitant plusieurs années pour être achevée. »
