Mahfoud: The Militia Failed in Its Coup, and It’s Time to Uproot the Iranian Tails from Lebanon
The head of the Change Movement Party, lawyer Elie Mahfoud, stated that the measures being implemented at Rafic Hariri International Airport are promising. The arrest of a money smuggler coming from Turkey is another step in the ongoing process of restoring the state’s authority and reclaiming the republic’s presence.
In his statement, Mahfoud said that the militia must acknowledge that its coup attempt has failed, and the next step is determining how to uproot the Iranian influence from deep within Lebanon. He added, “If this state wishes to have friendly relations with us, it is welcome to do so within the framework of diplomatic norms and respect for Lebanese sovereignty. However, if it continues its expansion, funding, operations, and involvement of Lebanon in its expansionist projects, then our government has the full right to sever ties with a state that has become a threat to Lebanon’s national security.”
