“Lebanon Today” Prepares for President Aoun’s Visit to the Kingdom… “Hellish Scenario” for the Resistance Team

After the “Reform and Rescue” government, headed by President Nawaf Salam, gained the confidence of the Lebanese Parliament with 95 votes in “Lebanon Today,” and its move towards setting an executive mechanism for the ministerial statement, which is fully aligned with the inaugural speech, considered the cornerstone for establishing state authority across its entire territory, ending Israeli presence and halting its violations, as well as launching the reconstruction process through a special fund, setting a comprehensive reform program, and adopting a clear mechanism for appointments at all levels, the preparations for President General Joseph Aoun’s visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to strengthen bilateral relations and appreciate its supportive stance toward Lebanon continue. Meanwhile, the resistance team’s media continues to stir domestic strife by promoting scenarios aimed at hindering the start of the new presidency and obstructing the work of the new government.

In this context, sources closely connected to Baabda and the Prime Minister’s Office, as mentioned by “Al-Liwaa,” appeared optimistic about the promising signs of significant Saudi openness toward a new page in developing relations between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, indicating the translation of Saudi, Gulf, and international support for the beginning of the presidency and the government. This will be a key test for President Aoun’s visit to Saudi Arabia. It is worth noting that the urgent congratulations received by Prime Minister Nawaf Salam just hours after his government’s parliamentary confidence vote on Wednesday night reflected notable support from Riyadh for Salam’s presidency and government. Relevant circles are awaiting the results of the President’s visit to Riyadh from the perspective of establishing a new, effective, and warm framework for developing relations and leveraging the support Lebanon needs, not to mention the importance of coordination on Arab and regional issues ahead of the Arab summit.

Returning to the provocative actions of the resistance team, the resistance media is scaring the Lebanese people, who are weary of being dragged into senseless wars for which they continue to pay the price, by warning of a civil war. This is based on a statement by U.S. envoy to the Middle East, Steve Wietkoff, who expressed his belief that Lebanon and Syria could join the normalization train by joining the Abraham Accords. He also expressed optimism about ongoing efforts to persuade Saudi Arabia to join a peace agreement with Israel.

The resistance media has drawn a “hellish” scenario that is detached from reality and contradicts the positions and principles of Presidents Aoun and Salam. The resistance team, through its media, attempts to target the “normalization” issue, which is currently a highly sensitive matter, with the goal of dragging the new presidency into its complexities and putting it in confrontation with the U.S. stance, which was the official sponsor, along with France, of the ceasefire agreement that granted a green light to maintain the Israeli presence in the five strategic hills and created a buffer zone. This position was reflected by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, who said yesterday, “We received the green light from Washington to keep our forces in the buffer zone in southern Lebanon, with no time limit for our stay in the buffer zone,” in addition to Israel’s repeated violations of Lebanese sovereignty every time the “party” tries to reposition and rebuild its military structure.
